  38. My dear friends, I am a professional bird trainer and have trained Macaws, Cockatoos and African Greys. I have also been all over India in my search to buy good birds at reasonable rates.

The rates for birds which Hemant has published are 100% accurate. This is exactly the price as of December 2012. They may vary a few thousands more or less, but you will never find them for say 10,000 rupees lesser.

The reason I am sharing this is because there are a lot of Conmen (chor in Hindi) on the Internet who will advertise say an African Grey for 20,000 rupees, or say that they are planning to give away their pet bird for adoption and all you have to do is send them the shipping charges which could be around $300 or more, so they can send you the bird.

PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR SUCH TRAPS!

Many people have been CHEATED like this whom I know. If someone is selling a pet bird for a very cheap price, go and meet the person and pick up the bird, or if the bird is in another city, have a friend from that city pick it up for you!

DO NOT TRANSFER MONEY INTO ANYONE'S ACCOUNT THINKING THEY WILL SEND YOU THE BIRD!

I just felt that I need to place this warning here, because it is so sad to see bird lovers being cheated like this. Hemant has done a very good job in giving us the approximate rate and as I said earlier - THIS IS THE CURRENT RATE FOR THE BIRDS MENTIONED ABOVE. Please do not be deceived by anyone offering these birds at a dirt cheap price!

    Regards
    Prem!

    2. Hey Alisha, he is right about price thing, you have to bargain very high on price coz most of parrots are breaded in India nowadays...so they are cheap, n also if a parrot is well trained n hand raised than he/she is princely other vise...NO.

Please do suggest me. Some of my friend told me that he will get me a wild parrot as he has links in village. Do you suggest me to do so..or I should go for a amazon parrot or cockatiel???

Please do help me to chose the best one.

  75. Village Parrots are wildone they don't like in cage. If you can go than go for Amazon Parrot....they are very intelligent n playful. But you hv to give them full time n care n love as they are life long commitment.

Thanks for the reply, was waiting for it.i do understand ur concern, but would like to share with you that we already have 8 budgies at our place and she is very comfortable with them neither she treat them as toys she very well understands that they are very delicate and are living things also in my opinion i think nature and natural thing shall teach her better than a play station i guess.
Request you to kindly suggest if u can help. we shall make sure that we treat the parrot as our family memeber rather than a toy.

  84. Hemant Sachan, kindly refrain from carrying out this inhumane business. It just shows how desperate you are for money. I strongly and sincerely believe in the saying "Work is worship" and that no work should be considered to be small, unless it's something like this i.e. immoral and unethical.

This is no different from earning a living out of slaughtering innocent animals or birds. Had I been in your place, I'd rather die than do something as shameful as this. This is not even the last thing one should resort to. These birds deserve to live more than any of us. They haven't and will never harm you, you know that very well.

You're only taking advantage of their inabilities. You have been allotted enough brains to determine what is right and wrong. I'm sure you won't have a single point to vindicate what you're doing. Better late than never - stop this right away! Set them all free, please and be a hero.

Lastly, keep in mind the following:

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” - Mahatma Gandhi

The above mentioned, applies to individuals as well.

    2. In that case, don't even bother posting the prices, please. Don't you think people who buy birds to keep them caged, do not deserve and ought not to be protected from being cheated?

Ripusudhan Singh, Hemant is right. Don't buy a bird for your daughter. On the contrary, you should be teaching her that how it's very wrong to do so. After all, education begins at home.

i think we all are getting in to unnecessary discussions, also dear jaimin i appreaciate hemant's efforts and his vast knowledge on this particular subject and kind of work he is doing. as far as my teachings are concern u are right education begins at home, but since u have intiated the topic i shall u that we never teach her that pets are to be kept in cage infact we buy them, keep them for some time and once they are healthy enough to fly and sustain in the environment we free them.also, u would be surprised to know that many of them have come back they eat, play and fly back again.

  102. Hey Hemant,
i have had parrots before, including Indian parrot. However now 'm planning on buying a macaw.
I need to know which one of Scarlet macaw, blue& gold macaw & green winged macaw is most active and easily learns words/talks more.
will these birds be able to survive in the heat of Delhi or they need AC rooms n all ?
Also can these macaws fly ? if yes, how large a cage should i go for.
Is there any particular feed available for these macaw's or they eat the ususal fruits and other things which i have fed my parrots earlier ? This question stems from the fact that i have seen them chipping down large stems of trees in Thailand.
Would appreciate a early reply :)

    1. They can servive Delhi heat but not put them outside, yes they are very good at flying, large cage would do no help for them they atleast need a full room or lobby for them to play, they can eat fruits, vegetables, meats, boiled eggs, seeds etc..

I have a pair of Cockatiels with me since last one year. They are very naughty and playful however since last few days I am noticing that one of them is not shouting as he used to. He eats well, sleeps well but does not SHOUT also he keeps on yawning. I am wondering if this is any sort of throat infection?

Please Help, I am little worried.
